Homemade Safari Invitations
These
scroll invitations were for my grandsons 5th birthday. We had a little petting
zoo come out to the house (monkey, lizard, porcupine, etc) so it was a jungle
safari theme. The invitations were made with a $2.00 roll of brown wrapping
paper and a printer so they were super cheap yet lots of fun.
Supplies
-
Brown wrapping paper
-
Printer and computer
-
Scissors
-
candle or lighter
-
Brown raffia, substitute twine, waxed cord, flax
Method
-
I cut the paper to regular print size and flattened it as much as I could so it wouldn't jam the printer.
-
Set up a word document to print the party details on to the paper, we used a mixture of free fonts. The wording reads:
Vincent is turning 5!
We're going to have a wild time
Hope you can be there
where: ...... when: ....... Time:...... -
After printing I cut to size and carefully used a candle to burn the edges of the cards. This is pretty dangerous as the brown paper burns easily so it might be good to set the candle in the kitchen sink and have the water ready just in case.
-
Then I rolled them up into a scroll and tied them with cheap brown raffia.
-
I hand delivered most of the invitations but those that had to be mailed were just smashed flat and put in an envelope.
