Baby Shower Invitation Wording

Finding the right wording for a baby shower invitation can be a daunting task at first but it is actually not as difficult as you might think. A simple two line rhyming verse goes a long way and adds a heap of charm to your homemade invitations. Nursery Rhymes can be changed to suit your needs with just a little creative thinking, when all else fails you can always fall back on a 'Roses are red....' poem.

Whatever wording you go with just make sure that the basic information is covered since there is nothing worse than forgetting a piece of vital information. (been there, done that! Can you believe I got the rsvp phone number wrong on a Wedding invitation! All 110 of them no less)

Baby shower invitation Wording checklist:

  1. Name of the new mother the party is in honor of

  2. The date and time the event will take place

  3. The venue address

  4. RSVP details including the date and a phone number or email address

  5. Gift Registry details

  6. Whether or not the baby shower is a surprise

  7. Boy or girl?

  8. A groovy baby shower poem or verse

How to say 'come to the party'

Now while the date and venue details are pretty easy to sort out there is that part at the beginning of your invitation where you extend an invitation to the recipient. That is the bit I have trouble with on any invitation.  To aid you in writing your invite you some simple wording might include something like:

Some fun stuff

How about throwing a 'baby sprinkle' as opposed to a shower? Or maybe a 'baby storm'...hmm, I don't know about a storm. A onsie baby shower or a diaper shower, you can use this idea for a crazy diaper invitation.

Baby shower poem, verse, quote or rhyme

A short verse or rhyme adds a lovely touch to your invitation. We have a few suggestions here to fire your imagination. Some are from invitations on this site, some that our readers have submitted and some we've made up ourselves.

A bouncing baby boy is on his way
Lets shower mom with love on her special day

Booties, diapers, baby powder.
Come join us for a baby shower!

Jody's expecting, oh what a joy,
She's waiting for her new baby boy

First comes love,
then comes marriage,
then come the Walton's
with a baby carriage

10 tiny fingers, 10 tiny toes,
two little ears and one cute button nose

Will she need pink?
Or will she need blue?
We don't have long,
she's albmost due.

Mary had a little baby....

Twinkle, twinkle little star,
How we wonder what you are.
